Technical circuits
Exercises proposed in this category aim at refining the various technical moves (receiving, passing, dribbling, shooting, etc.) as related to the position and the role that each athlete plays in the game. Benefit of these exercises is quite prompt, in that the player refines technical/tactical moves that are to be used in the game. Utilization of an adequate number of players required in the proposed exercises optimizes the specific training tasks and the number of contacts foot/ball.
TRAINING OF INDIVIDUAL SKILLS IN REDUCED SPACES
Author: Garcea - Macri - Cacicia
Exercises included in this library are particularly recommended for the perfection and strengthening of the player’s individual ability, and have the specific objective of training the player’s skill in the attacking phase (positioning, marking, first touch, ball control, dribbling, shooting) and in the non possession phase (defensive positioning, marking, tackling).
The variety of the proposed exercises, and their entertaining format, help the coach in maintaining the level of interest and the players’ participation quite high. The exercises are developed in reduced spaces, in order to mimick game conditions and to involve, continuously or on a rotational basis, all the players.

EXERCISES IN REDUCED SPACES FOR TRAINING BALL CONTROL AND BALL DRIBBLING
Author: Garcea - Macri - Cacicia
Modern soccer shows teams paying more and more attention to the defensive phase, by closing spaces and reducing playing time when the opponents are in possession of the ball. Therefore, tactical ability related to ball protection, ball dribbling and shooting on goal have particular importance toward the effort of breaking through defenses and creating numeral superiority that would lead to shots on goal. This didactic progression has two objectives.
The first is of moral and psychological nature, in that a positive outcome of training exercises helps in maturing the player’s personality, with the direct result of preparing athletes capable of taking initiatives, without fear of taking risks or making mistakes, when challenged in the game.
The second objective is of technical nature and aims to improve specific aspects (ball control and ball dribbling) of the modern soccer player. This collection contains specific analytical exercises, in addition to games and real game situations. They all share the objective of stimulating ball control, dribbling and shooting on goal. The exercises are enjoyable and effective, and help the overall coordination needed to adapt well to the typical functions of a soccer player.

TRAINING INDIVIDUAL TRANSITIONS
Author: Maurizio Viscidi
A peculiar characteristic of the modern soccer player is the ability to transition very rapidly from a defensive to an attacking situation, and viceversa.
The exercises proposed by Maurizio Viscidi, recently selected by Arrigo Sacchi as coordinator of Italian youth national teams, make it possible to improve the player’s mental approach, and consequently to react as rapidly as possible to the changes of the game situations. The exercises are effective, entertaining and with the potential of having an important impact on this key aspect of modern soccer.
Maurizio Viscidi: The situations described are considered basic and particularly useful to train individual skills. Therefore, it is helpful to introduce this type of exercises also and mostly in the youth sector, with the objective of shaping the player’s “soccer mentality”.
From a didactic standpoint, it’s best to start with exercises that envision the participation of a limited number of players in small spaces, to be followed thereafter by increased number of participating players in bigger playing areas.
